A Few Words

Regeneration Quarterly has been in the design stages for a great while (at least from our twentysomething vantage point). The seeds for the journal were sown a year and a half ago in Washington, D.C, at a meeting convened by Nelson Gonzalez, our publisher. Gonzalez wanted to promote "thoughtful engagement with the culture" among Generation Xers via a journal and a series of public forums. Early in 1994, after consulting with many of the attendees at the original meeting, Gonzalez and I decided it would lie better to narrow our scope by focusing on a magazine, and a Christian one at that. One potential board member remarked that our efforts to remain orthodox would he doomed—since we were including Protestants. Another invitee, after hearing about our commitment to historic Christian orthodoxy, asked "Where is Christ in all this?" Thankfully, we have managed to persevere through bureaucratic hassles and initial skepticism to bring Regeneration Quarterly to fruition.

I would like to thank a number of people who played an important role in the process. Our editorial and editorial advisory board members were invaluable. I especially appreciate the contributions of Daryl Charles, Ken Craycraft, Darryl Hart, Stanley Hauerwas, ...
