Elected J. Budziszewski, philosophy professor at the University of Texas at Austin, as the chairman of the board of directors of the Institute on Religion and Democracy. Budziszewski, a recent convert to Roman Catholicism, succeeds United Methodist theologian and CT executive editor Thomas Oden at the mainline renewal group.

Retired Michael E. Haynes, 77, after 40 years as pastor of Boston's Twelfth Baptist Church. Haynes, an emeritus CTI board member, served three terms in the Massachusetts state house and commenced ministerial duties at the church in 1951 with Martin Luther King Jr.

Appointed Ted Yamamori, president emeritus of Food for the Hungry International, as international director of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization. Yamamori succeeds David Claydon. Also, Doug Birdsall, president of the missions agency Asian Access, succeeds Paul Cedar as executive chair of LCWE.

Appointed Michael W. Treneer, 56, as president of the Navigators. Treneer, the ministry's former Africa director, will succeed Jerry White in January.

Appointed David Long, a former missionary to Hong Kong, as president of OMS International in Greenwood, Indiana. Long succeeds J. B. Crouse, who served in the position for 13 years.

Stepping Down Millard Fuller, 69, as CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, to continue as founder/president. Paul Leonard, who became managing director of the home-building nonprofit in June, succeeds Fuller as ceo for two years. A search committee is looking for a long-term successor to Fuller, who founded the organization in 1976.
